Self-Directed Supports

Purpose

Self-Directed Supports and services increase the ability of people with disabilities and their families to be empowered to exert greater control over the supports and services they receive. Through this model, people with disabilities can hire and manage their own staff and/or purchase goods and services from community vendors through use of a fiscal intermediary. In collaboration with the Division of Developmental Disabilities, The Boggs Center conducts activities aimed at educating the disability community about self-directed services and strategies to promote greater self-determination.

Training

The Boggs Center provides a variety of trainings focused on enhancing self-directed services. These include trainings for people with disabilities, families, and support coordinators on planning for and implementing self-directed services. Supports Broker training is also provided to increase the availability and quality of this service available to assist people with tasks related to self-direction.
