Certificate Program in Developmental Disabilities

Purpose

The Certificate Program in Developmental Disabilities is a joint effort between The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and the Rutgers School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Education. The program is intended to enhance the skills and knowledge of professionals working with people with disabilities in a variety of settings.

Training

Workshops for the Certificate Program in Developmental Disabilities are offered online as webinars. Lifespan topics in developmental disabilities are addressed, including diagnosis through early childhood, transition to adult life, community services and supports, and aging, along with disability policy, legal and ethical issues, multicultural perspectives, and supporting families.

Certificates of completion are offered after each workshop and a final certificate is awarded when all requirements have been met. Participants not seeking the certificate program are welcome to take individual workshops. To receive the final certificate, a participant must attend 9 required workshops and 3 elective workshops.

The Certificate Program in Developmental Disabilities is administered by Rutgers School of Social Work. Registration is through the Rutgers School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Education. If you have questions about registration, please contact CE@ssw.rutgers.edu or (848) 932-8758.
