Independent Living and Housing Opportunities for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

This six-lesson course provides information about important considerations and options to help an individual with an intellectual and developmental disability plan for and transition to independent living. Each lesson gives an overview of a related topic, along with resources to assist in securing housing. It is intended for anyone who may be assisting someone with transitioning to independent living or is interested in learning how to prepare. Content for this course was developed by The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in collaboration with the Division of Developmental Disabilities and the Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey. 

People employed by DDD Support Coordination, Supports Broker, or Service Provider Agencies interested in taking these lessons should take them through the College of Direct Support in order to have them tracked on your CDS transcript.  Please reach out to your agency's CDS Administrator to have them assigned.
