In Memoriam – Ann Marie McVay
Friday, February 20, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we share news of the passing of Ann Marie McVay, our beloved friend and colleague, on February 13, 2026. Ann Marie was a vital and vibrant part of The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development, serving as a dedicated member of the project support team since 2003 and collaborating with multiple projects, including Community-Based Instruction and New Jersey Positive Behavior Support in Schools.
While she devoted 23 years to The Boggs Center through her professional support, Ann Marie believed work could be more than work; it could be an opportunity to build community. Ann Marie cared about everyone, not just her friends and family, but all people...and their loved ones, too. Everyone who crossed her path felt her personal care and compassion. Ann Marie’s actions went beyond her job description, as she consistently checked in and showed concern for others. She made us all feel special and treated everyone like extended family, inquiring about their well-being and sharing stories about her own family whom she loved very much. Her welcoming heart always made those new to the Center feel at home, and she created lasting relationships over her two decades with us. Among her many interests included a passion for travel, music, crafts, seasonal decorating, and spending time with the people she cared about. Those who knew her well admired her big heart, zest for fun, unwavering friendships, and creativity.
Ann Marie made an indelible impact on The Boggs Center. Her spirit and legacy will endure.
In tribute to Ann Marie’s memory, the Rutgers flag in front of the Old Queens Building in New Brunswick will be lowered to half-staff on March 30 and 31, 2026.
