New Jersey Legislative Disability Caucus

Deborah M. Spitalnik, PhD, Professor of Pediatrics & Family Medicine and Community Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Executive Director of The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, provided data on healthcare disparities and the importance of training practitioners to appropriately care for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the latest meeting of the New Jersey Legislative Disability Caucus on Tuesday, February 21st.

The New Jersey Legislative Disability Caucus serves as a bipartisan forum within the state legislature for lawmakers and their staff to consider the impact on people with disabilities and their families when shaping public policies.

Dr. Spitalnik represents The Boggs Center in quarterly meetings of the Caucus, comprised of nearly 40 legislators, supporting disability agencies, and people with disabilities and their families. Her contributions to the meeting, which focused on access to quality healthcare services for individuals with disabilities, were acknowledged in an Insider NJ article, "Bipartisan NJ Legislative Disability Caucus & Advocates Discuss Access to Quality Healthcare Services for Individuals with Disabilities."
