Faculty Instructor

The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a Faculty Instructor.

The faculty member will direct the work of Boggs Center Employment and Transition Team programs supported through the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities and NJ Department of Education. The faculty member will provide supervision, conduct community training and technical assistance, and participate in applied research in program areas, including life-course transitions from high-school through aging/end of life, integrated employment of individuals with developmental disabilities, and community services and supports. The faculty member will assist organizations including schools, disability service providers, and state systems to promote best practices in supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a member of The Boggs Center’s Leadership team, participating in meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Oversee NJ DDD supported Employment, Transition to Adult Life, and Aging projects and NJ DOE supported Community Based Instruction (CBI) and Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) projects
  • Supervise and mentor project staff and students, as assigned
  • Contribute to training, technical assistance, and resource development efforts funded through DDD and DOE
  • Teach courses and/or provide guest lectures in collaboration with Rutgers’ schools or departments on behalf of The Boggs Center
  • Develop and publish informational resources and scholarly articles
  • Contribute to The Boggs Center’s and Department’s mission through lectures, conference presentations, research, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Ensure project staff complete all university-required compliance training, timesheets, and other necessary documentation
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of project team data entry/analysis
  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reporting
  • Represent the Boggs Center on external committees focused on transition to adult life, employment, aging, and/or similar topics
  • Foster and maintain relationships with funding entities
  • Write/contribute to the writing of grants, contracts, and MOUs

Training & Consultation Specialist - PCAST

The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a Training and Consultation Specialist.  

Under the supervision of a faculty member, conducts planning, development, training and technical assistance activities related to best practices in Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST). Provides training and technical assistance in Person-Centered Planning (PCP), program design, program implementation and program enhancement to school personnel statewide, with concentration on person-centered approaches for all students with disabilities, especially developmental. Responsibilities include collaborating with the New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Special Education (DOE-OSE) and other Boggs Center personnel conducting training and technical assistance in PCP; developing, planning, and providing trainings; designing and disseminating instructional and other resources; project specific data analysis and reporting; and responding to requests for information.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develops training modules and materials related to Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) including video and other training technology.
  • Delivers training modules to school/district personnel at designated locations regionally in keeping with DOE-OSE and Boggs Center agreement and expectations.
  • Develops and follows a system to deliver technical assistance to schools/districts regarding Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST).
  • Provides training and presentations about Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) to schools/districts and others statewide according to procedure.
  • Develops project elements and timelines in collaboration with supervisor, PCAST coworkers, and DOE-OSE staff.
  • Collaborates with other Boggs Center employees regarding Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) including data collection, evaluations, written and verbal communications, and information sharing.
  • As required, conducts analyses and writes reports and other materials related to Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST).
