Nicole L. Warren, LSW, MEd is the Program Development Specialist for The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities. She is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Money Follows the Person Capacity Building project. Ms. Warren will work to create a statewide competency-based Career Pathway for Direct Support Professionals and a certification process for NJ Support Coordinators. She will also oversee work to create a large-scale public awareness campaign and networking to build a statewide pipeline into the Direct Support workforce.

Prior to joining The Boggs Center team, Ms. Warren was a social worker for a library-based reentry program, Fresh Start @ Your Library, where Ms. Warren provided direct services to returning citizens in public libraries. For several years, prior, Ms. Warren taught elementary school and was intrigued by the impact disturbances in a child’s social and emotional development had on their academic performance. During that time, she also gained experience supporting children with medically complex developmental disabilities, and their families, which solidified her already personal connection to people living with developmental disabilities. Ms. Warren left the classroom to pursue a degree in social work, afterward launching and managing the administration and delivery of programming for Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey. This included programs for girls and their incarcerated mothers, and girls living in shelters. She has also previously worked for Rutgers University Libraries.

Ms. Warren brings expertise in coordination of wide-reaching projects that impact the lives of diverse populations. Through these, she gained experience in fostering partnerships with community and government agencies, developing and launching curricula, initiating media-based promotions, and resource development. Ms. Warren has dedicated her career to serving children, adults, and families and works to support the development and delivery of quality outreach and capacity-building programs. She is a licensed social worker with an MSW from Columbia University and a MEd from Rutgers University.
